Ouch
(Inspired by the icehockey match, RT106 Nijmegen recites a poem called "Ouch" by Aswin Menke)
From all over Europe, the tablers came
To Kokemaki to play a game
Of hockey, on a pitch of ice
The tension rising, who would win the prize.
The Germans disqualified, they arrived too late
The Dutch and the Belgium didn’t know how to skate
How to move forward without hugging the ice
Falling down was not so nice.
The ice was hard, the ice was cold
After two minutes playing I felt pretty old
Marti & Tobjorn playing with greatest ease
And all I was thinking: “could we have a break please”.
The game was fast, the game was good
We got the hang of it and in the mood
Pierre Denis scored many a goal
Good positional play, like Jean-Paul (The only difference being that Pierre was actually standing while Jean-Paul was kissing the ice.)
Then our goalie went to the other side
Scoring became difficult, no matter how hard we tried
Petri or Jari, it didn’t matter at all
Ari managed to stop every ball.
The opposition had become too strong
And we were saved by the gong (Sorry, had to ryme)
The game was over, the game was done
It was hard work but great fun.
Thank you Finland!

Aswin Menke in Zweden, after his return from Finland.
