EW Facility Services and the Employment Insurance Agency (UWV) are going to help more young disabled persons find jobs

Opening doors
October 24, 2014 - EW Facility Services is going to collaborate with the UWV to help people with poor job prospects re-enter the job market. Bas Cornelissen, CEO at EW Facility Services, and André Timmermans, CEO of UWV WERKbedrijf signed a national covenant today which states that the company will try to employ at least 75 young disabled individuals until the end of 2015. EW Facility Services currently employs 25 young adults with disabilities.
Opportunities for all
EW Facility Services has quite a lot of experience hiring people with poor job prospects. The multi-service facility service provider is now formalizing their collaboration with the UWV by signing a National Covenant which will be in effect for a number of years. Bas Cornelissen explains why the company decided to sign: ‘‘We feel it is part of our corporate social responsibility as well as part of our people-oriented vision to make sure that vulnerable groups with poor job prospects have a shot at finding work. We believe in opening doors and tapping into everyone's individual talents. This Covenant means we have set ourselves the goal of sustainably employing at least 75 extra young disabled people until the end of 2015.’’
Integrating at EW Facility Services
The UWV conducted business analyses at a number of EW Facility Services' locations over the course of the past year where they primarily focused on the Inclusive Redesign of Work Processes. These analyses resulted in advice regarding the various options for staff with poor job prospects and how to help them integrate. HR Manager Maaike Ligtenstein- van Bree on this process: ‘‘The employees will be offered a contract if they successfully complete the internship phase. They perform standard cleaning tasks with an adjusted work program and with help and guidance from an experienced buddy. The buddy and the external job coach form the basis for helping staff fully integrate in our organization.’’
De Normaalste Zaak
Signing this Covenant also fits in with EW Facility Services' partnership with De Normaalste Zaak. This partnership was entered into in January 2014. This network of employees believes that it should be standard practice for everyone to participate in the job market. De Normaalste Zaak is an initiative of MVO Nederland, Start Foundation and the Confederation of Netherlands Industry and Employers.
